National Launch of the Q2 Conservatives, 1 October 2024
At a well-attended event at the recent Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham, the Q2 Conservatives held their national launch, an exciting new policy platform dedicated to helping to shape the future of our party, but with a focus on the all-important 25- to 49-year-old age bracket.
The focus of the launch meeting was a discussion titled “Building the Future: Policy priorities for the Q2 Generation”.
We were joined by prominent figures in the Conservative Party, including Dr Ben Spencer MP, Sarah Bool MP and Julian Ellacott, the newly elected chair of the Conservative Party National Convention, senior councillors, and key policy makers.
This event was a fantastic opportunity to engage in great conversation, which included a discussion on housing and healthcare policy, and how to meaningfully engage with a generation demographic who have drifted away from the Conversative Party in recent years.
Dr Ben Spencer MP and Sarah Bool MP both congratulated the Q2 Conservatives on their launch and emphasised the importance of reflecting on the type and method of communication with the Q2 generation, including the targeted use of social media and the importance of co-designing policy.
Q2 committee member, Cllr Jonathan Hulley, who is also a senior housing solicitor, reminded participants that the average age of a first-hand time buyer is nearly 40.
The party will need to embrace home ownership and housebuilding in our town and cities as key objectives, as well protecting and promoting the Right to Buy, and homeownership products like First Homes and shared ownership.
Naeha Menon, another Q2 committee member, spoke about the importance of healthcare and childcare policy, while the Chair of Q2 Conservatives spoke with passion and authority on family law reform, and the relevance of this topic to the 25 to 49 age bracket.
All those who attended agreed that it was an excellent launch.
